A Clinical Report of Somatoform Disorder Patient Appealed Lumbar Herniated Intervertebral Disc Symptoms

Abstract
This study researches the progress of symptoms of patient with somatoform disorder who appealed lumbar herniated intervertebral disc. During the initial stage of hospitalization, chief complaint of patient was low back pain with radiculotapthy. However, patient gradually have appealed the other various physical symptoms that are inconsistent with or cannot be fully explained by any underlying general neurologic or medical condition. Therefore, patient was diagnosed as somatoform disorder and transferred psychiatry clinic for psychiatric modalities. Usually, patients with somatoform disorders are spend a lot of time to itinerate clinics, because they firstly not visit psychiatry clinic, whereas visit primary healthcare clinics initially such as orthopedic surgery clinics or internal medicine clinics. On the other hand, early medical interventions could decrease significant impairment, so these patients requires an integrated medical and psychiatric treatment approach with accurate diagnosis in order to successfully decrease long-term morbidity and suffering by these disorders.
